Farewell Notes to AKANJI, Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Kòséléri è) fspsp
On a norm, I would write an epistle for you, former Governor of Oyo State and jinx breaker, Senator Abiola Ajimobi. However, words fail me tonight.
I moved into Ibadan, Oyo State, before the general election in 2011 (to further my academic sojourn). I was a witness to your victory at the polls and the subsequent transformation of Oyo state. People may not understand what one means by transformation except they knew and experienced Oyo state before 2011.
For your feat in taming insecurity and bringing peace to Oyo State, the Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) honoured you with a Fellowship in 2019 after you delivered an uncommon investiture lecture.
Like I said earlier, I won’t write an epistle because my heart is heavy and currently devoid of words.
At 70, you were a man blessed with a loving wife, doting children and loving grandchildren. Apart from your immediate family, you also had many followers who had become part of your family by association.
As we all mourn your Demise, we pray that your soul will rest in peace, just like you practiced peace, and your legacy and goodwill will live on.
May God give your family the fortitude to bear the Loss.
