A suspected impostor was apprehended on Wednesday in Ilesha, Osun State, while attempting to take the teachers’ recruitment examination for a woman.
The suspect (name withheld) was reportedly arrested at a centre at the College of Education, Ilesha.
He was said to be impersonating a woman believed to be his wife.
Luck ran out on him when officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board deployed in the centre found out that his face did not match the photograph on the record of the applicant stored in the database of the Ministry of Education.
The state Commissioner for Education, Mr Folorunsho Oladoyin, in a statement, condemned the incident.
The statement, issued by the Information Officer of the Ministry of Education, Roseline Olawuni, said the suspect had been handed over to law enforcement agents for further investigation and prosecution.
“It is shameful that somebody who wants to teach students academically and morally could be involved in fraudulent acts,” Oladoyin was quoted to have said in the statement.
