The past few weeks has been tensed in the country. The peaceful protest started well in some parts of the country with various agitations to end SARs and end to Police Brutality.
Several commendation was given to the youths at the movement until it took a new twist on Tuesday, 20th of October when some group of Soilders allegedly open fire on the peaceful Protesters at Lekki Toll Gate Lagos ground of one the Protest point. The shooting lead to various forms of Violence, Watton, Arson, Vanadalization, mob attacks etc
These scenario lead to chaos and problems in the country. So many are heartbroken due to this scenario. In an interview with nollywood actress and Filmaker, Jumoke Odetola popularly known as Miss Gargantuan.
According to her ” The mental health of a lot of us is in a bad state now. I am traumatized by lots of graphic contents I have seen in the last few days. Lives of innocent citizens peacefully demanding for their rights have been lost in the most gruesome ways by those who sworn to protect us.
We don’t want to lose more lives, so we need to breathe at this point, RELAX, RECOUP and RESTRATEGISE, not to say we are backing out. No! Never! Too late! We are too alert to helplessly surrender to the oppressors.
This is a revolution…No retreat, no surrender, but we need to strategize. It will be a lost battle without a proper strategy at this point, because some youths who are are tagged “hoodlums” but who I perceive as victims of a bad system are being used against us to destroy what we are building and as we know it is easier to destroy than build they are using us to fight against us.
So, our major strategy would be to reach out to these our fellow youths who may not be social media awake like we are and who are oblivious of the good intent of peacefully fighting this good cause together. It is important to sensitize them on the importance of our mission and goal.
We need to let them know what we are doing is for the benefit of everyone and especially the generations to come. After this, we can then use the power of our voice and votes. 2023 looks like it’s far, but it’s actually not far.
I am proud to be a part of this revolution
