Just as communities all over the world are gradually waking to new normal on the social scene after the ban on public gatherings occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic was lefted, an Ibadan-based hangout spot, Club XS, has announced its entry into the entertainment scene in Oyo State with a promise to make an exciting mark.
The management of Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre made good its dream of floating an upscale club in the ancient city by unveiling the new outfit at the conference centre section of its facility last weekend.
With an array of high quality musical equipment, bright lighting, well grafted dance floor, breathtaking designs and luxury sofas in a cozy and expansive hall, it is obvious that the new club is in a class of its own. There are also several activities at the club that are bound to excite guests and fun seekers.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, the Chief Executive Officer of Kakanfo Inn and Conference Centre, Damola Are, insisted that Club XS was purely positioned for entertainment at its best. According to him, the classes of people expected at the club are graduates, upwardly mobile, newly established and fully established individuals He said, “Two years ago, we established a mini club called Sabasaba, which was a reincarnation of a restaurant that my parents established in 1972. From there, we created Havana, which is also a club located at the conference centre.
Based on what we saw with Havana, me, Deji Aboderin and a few others decided that we wanted to go fully into the business with a club that would provide multiple offerings. It was also to portray our local heritage of highlife on Thursdays, and jazz on Sundays. It will also serve as a lounge and bar from Thursdays to Sundays and metamorphose into a club at night.”
In a similar vein, a partner on the Club XS project, Deji Aboderin, said, “Having studied clubs in Ibadan, we thought of what we could do differently and better, and that led us to this. We had the ‘soft’ opening of the club which was a test run but we are still going to have the grand opening. Meanwhile, people are already saying the club has come to lead the pack in Ibadan.”
