Last week, Lagos State Ministry of Health hosted a health Infrastructure design workshop in partnership with Plexcom Technical Solutions.
The objectives of the workshop are to engage government stakeholders with the Lagos State blue print project on health infrastructure and present the conceptual design as well as progress of work on the blue print.
The workshop became necessary in readiness for translating the design into solid infrastructure.
Relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Lagos State Government participated in the workshop which was also attended by some members of Lagos State Executive Council.
The Deputy Governor of Lagos Dr. obafemi Hamzat in his opening remarks at the workshop emphasized the need for Lagos State to have purpose-built healthcare facilities. The Deputy Governor expressed the desire of government to bring all public healthcare facilities in Lagos to international standard .
The blue print project commissioned by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu in October 2019 is aimed at transforming the medical infrastructure landscape from primary, to secondary as well as specialist facilities. This is against the background of dysfunctional state of majority of health facilities in Lagos.

The design consortium is expected to design, build and maintain the facilities.
The blue print projects in progress are:
1. General Hospital
2. Pediatric hospital
3. 300bed isolation centre
4. Comprehensive health Centre
a. primary health centre
b. Health posts
5. Maternal and child centre
6. Doctors quarters
7. Infectious disease research institute
The blue print project is aimed at strengthening the health sector in line with Pillar 2 and 4 of the THEMES Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu geared towards building a smart city with 21st century ideas.
