Omoni Oboli disclosed how pleased she is to be working on a Nollywood classic Domitilla


It is undoubtedly the season of remakes and sequels of Nollywood classics and the latest on the list of productions is 1996 crime drama ‘Domitila’.⁣

The upcoming feature film will reportedly be directed by Zeb Ejiro and will grace theaters by the first quarter of 2021. Production is however billed to kick-off later on in the year.⁣

Speaking on the upcoming project, FilmOne Entertainment co-founders Kene Okwuosa and Moses Babatope shared their excitement in a press statement. “We are happy to once again, bring magic to the big screen by producing this breathtaking movie.⁣

In ‘Domitila’, we have identified an entertaining and artistic masterpiece that would appeal to different generations of film lovers; and to know we are partnering with great professionals in Zeb Ejiro and Omoni Oboli is soothing. Thus, we look forward to a phenomenal accomplishment”.⁣

Zeb Ejiro who owns directorial credit for the 1996 acclaimed film shared, “When we first made ‘Domitila’, it was a story inspired by societal challenges that have over time, proven to not only be akin to the ’90s, but trans-generational; and so, in recognition of its relevance in these times, we have decided to make a sequel to the story, factoring recent socio-cultural advancements”.⁣

‘Domitila’ sequel creative director, Omoni Oboli also disclosed how pleased she is to be working on a Nollywood classic.⁣

“When I was a teenager, I auditioned for ‘Domitilla’ but I didn’t get any part; perhaps, I was too tiny. Today, I’m proud to be one of the stars, executive producers, producer and creative director of the sequel. It’s going to be a very exciting ride and I can’t wait”, said Oboli.⁣

‘Domitila’ sequel will follow the adventures of a young Domitila who accidentally witnesses the mysterious death of a politician. With law enforcement on her and her friends’ trail, Domitila decides to go to any length to prove her innocence.⁣

The 1996 classic featured stars like Anne Njemanze, Sandra Achums, Kate Henshaw and Enebeli Elebuwa and also influenced the claim to fame of a few of its lead and supporting cast.⁣
