Partey has a £44.5 million release clause in his contract at the Spanish club and is reportedly a target for the Gunners this sum
Thomas Partey’s father has once again spoken out over the possibility of his son moving to Arsenal this summer.
The Atletico Madrid star is reportedly a target for the Gunners, who are looking to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season.
Partey has a £44.5 million release clause in his contract at the Spanish club, and last summer the player’s agent confirmed the presence of the clause.
“I can say that right now, I haven’t talked to anyone, even if Inter are a top club,” he told Passione,” as per Football Ghana.
“There’s a €50m (£44.5m) release clause in his contract, a figure that’s cheap for a player like Thomas.
“We’ll wait for the season to end and then we’ll see.”
And now Jacob Partey, his father, has indicated that his son’s career is solely in the hands of his agent amid continued talk linking him with a move to the Emirates.
‘My son’s current club Atletico Madrid has a release clause in Partey’s deal…this means that any club which shows interest in signing him must meet those demands’,” he told SilverOnline.
‘So whether Arsenal or any team which meets Atletico’s demand will be able to sign my son and as rumoured in a section of the media.”
Before adding: ‘’I always call my son and he is of age to decide on a move ….. I am ready to support his decision and will also support the team he chooses to move to.”
Partey has previously talked about his desire to play in the Premier League when asked about a move away from Atletico.
“At the moment, I am happy at my club,” he told ESPN last summer. “But in football, you never know when and where you’ll be in the next day or year.
“The Premier League is a good league, it’s very competitive and has some of the best players in the world,” he added. “Hopefully, one day. I would like to play there.”
Before continuing: “My agents are on it so I will leave everything for them. For me, I am happy playing football and I will continue to play where I am now until something comes up for consideration.
